Missymo46...
Hope you don't mind me nosing around but I just wanted to ask a few questions..
Are you both British?...the reason I ask is how are you going to be able to work/live in the US...Im kinda thinking one of you is maybe American by birth or has the right to reside there.
One other thing I'd like to add is..I love America and American people in general..however,here in Europe we have (in my opinion) far better terms and conditions for the average working man/woman..
There is an European law that states we are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks or 28 days (paid) leave per year...In America there is no such law...
I believe many Americans take around Two to three weeks....for me that is not enough !!!!
In conversation I also learned that It is not uncommon to have to work a whole year before u can take any kind of paid leave,in Europe it starts from day One of your employment..
Add to this sick pay (which I have no knowledge of in the US) and the cost of health care..
For the record I believe the typical American works to hard and deserves better, (can u tell Im a Member of a Union, lol)

Thank you for your advice, we are aware of the changes in Emplyment and A/L. But we believe the trade of will be worth it for our family.
You can go and reside in the US with a work visa. If your profession is a perferred one, you can get a company to sponser you. You do have to prove that the company could not emply an American to do the same job, but if you have special skill and experience, it can be done. My husband's has worked in specialised design and there are only five companies in the world that do the things he can do.! Amongest other things he can design.
Thats how we would try to gain entry and of course as soon as possible we would nationalise, that is a must for our family.
We would be moving lock stock and barell and hopefully never looking back.

I am European by birth and a naturalized American and in America since 1977 and I disagree with you that it is better in Europe. Everything is expensive and services are in general of a very low quality in almost evrething bordering on the rude side. Yes you may have a lot of vacation time due to every business being unionized and taxed to death but the quality of life in general for the average European is so and so. EU did not bring improvements but only a large soacilalistic system and a huge beauraucracy residing in Brusselles that is imposing from there how everything should be run from country to country . In onother words you in Europe lost your identities, freedoms and values belonging to each country by having EU imposing its own Socialist way of doing things and its own coin the euro. Another thing: it takes in America bet 15 min to an hour to open and register a private business or a corporation something that will take days if not months in Europe. And anybody here can be whatever they want to be while in Europe you have a hard time doing it due to Goverment intrusion in people's private life.Ex: In England every corner, intersection is video monitored by the police . So speaking for myself I love it here in US even when the times are harder like now and even if I dont have 6 weeks vacation and that's because I value my freedom of doing anything I want ,when and where I want it without interfernce from the Goverment. Hope that America will stay this way.:)
Have a great day

I would never want to lose our freedom but I wish our corners were monitored by the police, maybe we wouldnt have so much crime and only people who are the offenders would worry about that. Rhonda Brinkerhoff ABR,CRS,GRI

England banned the right of private citizens to own fire arms a few years ago and the crime rate went up 300% the level at which is today as we speak. You red right: 300% !!!! Yet they have all those cameras installed everywhere spying on everybody mostly regular people because the criminals do the crimes and buy ileggal fire arms and get away with. England has one of the worst justice system in Europe I should say one of the most intrusive and abusive against its own law abided average citizens yet the criminals get away with murder.

Interesting !! this is exactly what gun owners say to defend our ownership rights. If they took our guns away , only the criminal would have them. Rhonda Brinkerhoff ABR,CRS,GRI

You are correct. The way is going so far it seems to me that there is an undercovered govt.movement to take away gun ownership rights just like in England and the rest of Europe so you the average citizen will not be able to defend yourself in case you need to. I am not a gun owner but I agree with the ones that own one.

LOL Missy, not sure that bat would hold up against a gun being pointed at you .
Andresor , I really hope you are wrong about that , we just cant keep losing more of our rights...how free will we really be then ? My family is very big into guns and my husband and I have our concealed permits and in my business I really need one. I put myself into danger every time I pick up a stranger from the airport or a casino. It is not fair to take a gun away from an innocent person who does not have a felony or even a misdemeanor .
