Move To Las Vegas
Anyone Move To Vegas For Health Reasons?

It may sound a little whacky, but i've heard that some dr's advise their arthritic patients to move to a dry & warm climate to get relief from their pain. I never gave that much of a thought, until a few years ago when i started to develop rheumatoid arthritis ( i have a very high factor). I live in NYS where humidity is moderate to high on most days, it never used to bother me until now ,my husband has osteoarthritis and is affected by high humidity also. Whenm we visited Vegas last year (January and again in July) we couldnt help but notice how much better we both felt, sincerely:biggrin:
I'm looking to hear from others who have moved for health reasons and if it has made a positive improvement in your life and general well-being. Thank you!

Hi,

My husbad has been suffering with RA for about 3 years now. We had heard the same thing about the climate. At the end of November we went to Vegas, and we were climbing rocks in Red Rock Canyon, walking for what seemed like miles, and having all sorts of fun. Then we went home (Illinois).... and it was snowing, and within 2 days he couldn't hardly walk again. That was the deal maker for me. We are now putting a plan in place to move out to the LV area. Yes, it's hot as hell for a few months... but it's cold as hell here most months! Good luck to you if you move... maybe we'll end up in the same area! I hope you get some responses on here as I am curious as well.

Thank you Iansnonnie, i so appreciate your response, i do remember when we were there i didn't feel as stiff and sore in the mornings as i always do here at home (NYS), i felt great, the air and water was so clean, not like here.
That is great you have decided to move! Would you mind keeping me updated on your progress? i would love to hear! Thanks again!

Hi All!!

I have the same idea for moving to Las Vegas as well..... I would like to know more about it. I have been planning this move to Las Vegas for three years now, and I'm still going forward with this move! I first went gto LAs Vegas in 2007 and loved it! I have Asthma and while I was there, I didn't have any health problems at all! I felt alive and I exercise more!!! I found myself climbing mountains, and walking for hours! I love it!! THis year,2010 in July I plan on moving to Las Vegas for sure! I too have problems living here in Wisconsin where winter never ends!!! I find myself being so cold where it hurts my body so bad,I have to wear three layers of socks until June when the weather is 60 degrees! Also, there are no jobs here in Wisconsin at all! My husband has a degree in Accounting and he has been doing this for over 15 years and can't keep a job because of companies closind down and moving away... We are so tired of living in this cold weather and we are headed for Las Vegas!!!! I have a Job and I can transfer to any store but, Wisconsin Sucks!!! I need a way out!!! So any thoughts on Good High Schools and Fun things for teenagers to do? let me know.... How about Baksetball camps for my teenage boys??? I have some great high school basketball players!!! Any thoughts on good neighborhoods to live in???:smile:

There are lots of good schools for your teens, but I'm a huge fan of Arbor View H.S. and the area of Centennial Hills . Its a great new family area . Our schools , parks,YMCA,hospitals and the library is very new. Lots of shopping and places to eat.

Its far enough away from the strip but close enough when you want it. We just got a new 200 acre shooting range. Its only 30 min from Mt. Charleston if they like to snow board or ski. The Floyd lamb state park is 10 min away.

My son played baseball for Arbor View but they have every sport and camps etc. My son lives at the park where many kids meet up for basket ball games after school.

Hey how about valet parking at casinos (for your teens) ? Just a thought and may sound crazy but everyone who parks tips and especially those who win jackpots, but only if they are interested in making a little money. Anyway, you gave us more encouragement to move when you mention how much better you felt there, it just so happens we have been discussing a move since the late 1990's but not being sure until we actually were there...well out first visit was a year ago this month.....needless to say THAT DID IT:biggrin:, now it is just a matter of cost and planning which we haven't done yet, we are waiting for a close family member to join us, i'm a nurse and should have NO problem finding work, hubby's disabled and long retired (with numerous health issues).
Anyway congratulations on your big move! I've heard Wisconsin has HORRID winters, oh boy you are SOOOO lucky!

Most Casinos you have to be 21 to park cars. It is a union job too. In most cases you need to know someone to get those jobs.
